St. Matt's San Mateo - Pack 133

Volunteers

In order for each class to have a den - we are dependent on parent volunteers. You can lead a den as one person - or you can team up with other parents. In general the more parents involved, the more successful the den. Here is some general information on Scouting if you are unfamiliar. Once you know you want to join you can follow the steps on this site to get your child's application underway.

YES - VOLUNTEERING COUNTS AS SERVICE HOURS

BSA Volunteer Online Training

NOTE - it's not short so my suggestion is to take it at a time when you will be on your computer or phone for a while. Also DADS & MOMS can volunteer for Scouting - it's not just Dads.

If you plan on volunteering to lead a den or be involved in any capacity you will need to take some online training. Once logged in to the above portal you will see the options to "Find a Troop" or "Take Training". Everyone volunteering needs to enroll in the "Youth Protection Training".

If you know you want to be involved with den leadership for your child's grade then also take the Den Leader training on this page:

Do not take Cubmaster or Committee training unless you know you will be serving one of those roles.
